RFK Stadium

Pre-Game Restaurants

Sequoia Restaurant
3000 K St Northwest
Washington, DC
Situated on Washington Harbour, this restaurant boasts a palatial, beautifully decorated interior. The view of the Potomac River is gorgeous. The restaurant serves New American cuisine with innovative dishes prepared with local ingredients. Burgers, salads and sandwiches round out the menu. Sunday brunch is popular especially in the summer when the outdoor patio is open. The ground floor of the restaurant is a bar, and in the summer months, the outside tables are packed with business people looking to relax after a long day at work.

Cafe Atlantico
405 8th St NW
Washington, DC
Start the evening with an exotic cocktail at this popular Latin American restaurant. Perhaps try the caipirinha, a fruity daiquiri-like drink or the mojito, a refreshing blend of mint, lime and rum that packs a punch. The food is equally as interesting. Appetizers with fresh shellfish—shrimp, mussels or oysters—are laced with citrus and spice. Fish and meat entrees are also enhanced with tropical flair. The menu changes frequently with the season.

Georgia Brown's
950 15th St NW
(between K and I streets NW)
Washington, DC
Georgia Brown's offers a wide variety of soul food and "low country" fare served with Southern hospitality. Select from the traditional dishes of South Carolina, such as fried catfish and seafood gumbo, or be daring and try the shrimp and grits or frogmore stew. In a nod to the health conscious, Georgia Brown's also offers vegetarian versions of the meat-filled entrees. For a special treat, stop in for Sunday brunch, which features live swing jazz and a generous fixed-price menu.

Grill from Ipanema (The)
1858 Columbia Road Northwest
Washington, DC
Sassy and full of energy, this Brazilian restaurant in hip Adams-Morgan serves authentic dishes with flair in a funky environment complete with plastic palm trees.

Start off with a fruity batida cocktail or perhaps an eye-opening caipirinha. Grilled fresh fish and creamy coconut and seafood stews bring a taste of the tropics. Chicken and beef dishes are marinated in flavorful seasonings and grilled. The national dish—feijoada; a sausage and black bean stew—is the house specialty.

Au Pied de Cochon
1335 Wisconsin Ave Northwest
(near O St Northwest)
Washington, DC
This famous Georgetown restaurant offers 24-hour dining and is a popular after-hours stop for inexpensive fare.

This is a casual diner-style eatery with numerous booths and a bar that runs the length of the building. A covered area outside the restaurant offers a great place to people watch.

Despite its French name, this restaurant specializes in basic comfort food. Omelets are available 24 hours a day. Soups, sandwiches and desserts are also generally available around the clock. The breakfast menu offers a few extras, such as French toast and steak and eggs.

Georgetown Cafe
1623 Wisconsin Ave Northwest
(at O St Northwest)
Washington, DC
There are very few all-night delis in Washington. That would explain the popularity of this crowded cafe on the outskirts of Georgetown. Its location—near the night clubs—also helps business. This is the place to come for a quick bite.

At the Georgetown Cafe, you can treat yourself to a creamy milkshake or devour a basket of chicken fingers before heading home for the night.

Post-Game Hangouts

Madam's Organ
2461 18th St Northwest
Washington, DC
This Adams-Morgan landmark, is a popular hangout. It is a place that clearly does not take itself too seriously, which is a relief in a neighborhood always hot with trendy schemes. Here, there is pool and live music every night from 9:30pm, usually blues or bluegrass. The place is bound to be jumping well before midnight.

Habana Village
1834 Columbia Road Northwest
Washington, DC
Drink, eat, mingle and dance at this Latin club. A bar/restaurant occupies the first floor. On the second floor, the tiny dance floor is always packed with people dancing to the latest salsa tune. Several lounges provide a place to kick back. Wicker furniture and potted palm trees invite you to relax.

Dance lessons are held every Wednesday through Saturday from 7pm-9:30pm. Learn to salsa, tango or merengue for the paltry price of $10 per person.

There is a $5 cover charge for men on Friday and Saturday nights.

Tombs (The)
1226 36th St NW
Washington, DC
Not to be confused with its sophisticated upstairs neighbor, 1789 restaurant, this nautically themed basement bar (note the oars on the wall) caters largely to a college crowd. Some might even swear that the bar is in fact owned by Georgetown University (it is not). Sit at one of the sturdy wooden booths and munch on basic American fare—burgers and chicken sandwiches— or come have a drink at the bar.

Ireland's Four Provinces
3412 Connecticut Ave NW
Washington, DC
Lively and spirited, this pub has been a Washington favorite for years. Of course, its location—next to the fabled Cineplex Odeon Uptown—certainly has not hurt business. Do not count on grabbing a quiet drink here—Irish bands play nightly, and the place is jam-packed on weekends. Sports fans love to catch the action on the pub's 100-inch TV screen.

Senators Sports Bar and Grille
415 New Jersey Ave., Nw
Capitol Hill Holiday Inn
Washington, DC
Being Capitol Hill's one and only true sports bar, with the expected copious amounts of memorabilia and signed photos of former greats lining the walls, this place can pack them in during big games.

A better-than-average (for a bar) menu and the 11 beers on tap -- including local favorite Foggy Bottom Ale and imports like Bass and Killian's -- help lure bargoers in as well. The all-American menu of burgers, sandwiches and steaks is good, if not too inventive. But, who really wants to mix sports with experimental cuisine?
